Dermatology Profile IgG Test Overview

The Dermatology Profile IgG helps doctors check for autoimmune skin conditions. Even though the name says profile test, it doesn’t include several individual tests. There are different parameters of the Dermatology Profile IgG test, including BP180, BP230, DSG1, DSG3, Envoplakin, and Collagen Type VII.

These parameters are antibodies that are tested for in the blood sample to determine the presence of autoimmune blistering skin conditions like bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus vulgaris, or pemphigus foliaceus. The Dermatology Profile IgG test is an important diagnostic tool in the diagnosis of the conditions mentioned, however, the test can’t independently be used to offer a definitive diagnosis.

Why Is A Dermatology Profile IgG Test Prescribed?

A Dermatology Profile IgG test is prescribed in response to symptoms presented by patients. As the test is used to determine the presence of autoimmune diseases, it is not generally prescribed as a screening test. The Dermatology Profile IgG test is generally used to diagnose ABDs or autoimmune bullous dermatoses. Certain symptoms like skin erosions or blisters that don’t go away can warrant doctors to prescribe a Dermatology Profile IgG test.
