Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Testing Overview

Thanks to the developments in medical technology, it is possible for doctors to identify the risk of cancer in patients even before any symptoms show up. The Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Testing is used by doctors to identify the genetic risk of hereditary cancer in patients. Several cancer types, such as prostate, ovarian, pancreatic, and breast cancer.

All these cancer types have high prevalence and can lead to severe medical complications and even death if not managed in time. With Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Testing it is possible for doctors to identify the risk of hereditary cancer in patients and offer preventative treatment such as PARP inhibitors or prophylactic surgeries.

Why Is Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Testing Prescribed?

The Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Test is used as a screening test to determine the risk of hereditary cancer in patients with a significant family history of prostate, breast, pancreatic, or ovarian cancer. The test is generally used to recommend preventative cancer treatment options to patients and, in most cases, is prescribed by doctors rather than being a voluntary diagnostic test. Based on the test reports, doctors can determine the genetic cancer risk in patients, and accordingly, it can be used to provide preventative treatment options.

Components of Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Testing

There are more than 25 components to the Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Test. These components are the 28 HRR genes that are tested for the individual. Based on the test results, doctors accordingly plan a treatment option that’s relevant for the patient. Since the test results can only be expressed as either positive or negative in the presence of genetic mutations, here’s what the test results may mean.

  • A positive result for genetic mutations of any of the 28 HRR genes can mean an increased risk of cancer as well as the possible benefit of getting PARP inhibitor treatments.

  • A negative result for genetic mutations of any of the 28 HRR genes could mean the absence of cancer risk and no requirements for any active medical treatment.

Procedure and Prerequisites

The Oncopro Homologous Recombination Repair Germline Test is performed as a regular blood test, which involves drawing blood from the veins in the patient’s arms and sending it for testing. Getting a physician's prescription for this test is mandatory as a prerequisite for this test.
